Redefining Metro Operations in India
MEMCO made history in 2017 as the first private company to be awarded the contract for metro train operations under Chennai Metro Rail Phase 1. Building on this milestone, we expanded our role in 2019 to include operations at the Depot Control Centre (DCC) and the Progress Planning Investigation Office (PPIO).
Today, we manage complete train operations for Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), covering Lines 2A, 7, and 2B. As operations scale, we continue to plan strategic recruitment and resource deployment to support future expansion.
Train Operations for CMRL
MEMCO set a precedent in 2017 by becoming the first private company to operate metro trains for Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), marking a major milestone in public-private collaboration. By 2019, our role deepened with the inclusion of Depot Control Center (DCC) and PPIO responsibilities. Our team of 161 skilled professionals ensured smooth operations across the network through strategic roster management and constant performance oversight. From 2017 to 2023, MEMCO played a vital role in powering Chennai’s metro rail journey.
Train Operations for MMMOCL
After making history with Chennai Metro, MEMCO was awarded its second major metro operations contract by MMMOCL in 2020, a 5-year engagement covering Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7. Our team of 142 professionals has since managed daily train operations with precision and discipline.
In 2023, MEMCO secured a third major contract, once again with MMMOCL, for Line 2B. This expansion will see the onboarding of over 120 new train operators and support staff, further strengthening MEMCO’s role in powering Mumbai’s urban transit infrastructure.
